East Haven ~ Foxon

The area along the Route 80 corridor, bordering Branford and North Branford to the East, and New Haven on the West, is the section known as Foxon. Named after an Indian Chief that resided in the area, the majority of Foxon was built up in the 1950s through the late 1970s, with newer homes springing up over the last ten years. Over the past few years, the area has seen a lot of growth in new construction. Upscale single family homes, beautiful condominiums and active adult communities are among the offerings home buyers will find, in addition to the lovely established neighborhoods of Capes, Colonials and Ranches.

Foxon offers a conveniently located suburban setting with plenty of affordable housing. The area attracts both first-time buyers as well as growing families looking to expand their living space. It is close to rural areas, yet is very convenient to I-91, for an easy commute to downtown New Haven as well as all points north and south.

A variety of shopping along Route 80 gives residents everything they need at their fingertips – from grocery and convenience stores to video rentals. There is an abundance of restaurants to suit the tastes for those looking for Italian, Thai, Chinese or many other cuisines. The Foxon Country House is a very popular banquet facility and a mainstay of the area. Foxon is also famous for Foxon Park Beverages, a family owned and operated business that has been located in Foxon for over 80 years. Foxon Park soda is renowned throughout the Greater New Haven area for its great tasting natural soda with unique flavors such as Gassosa and White Birch Beer. People can go right to the factory, see the bottles being filled, and bring home a case.

The baseball field for the Foxon Recreation League, known to locals as “The Pit” is well-known for boys’ and girls’ Little League games throughout town. The Farm River flows through Foxon, providing plenty of opportunities for fishing. A new health club is located right on Route 80 and for golfers, the Alling Memorial Golf Course is just over the New Haven line. One of the highlights of the year is the annual summer carnival at Our Lady of Pompeii Church whose festivities, food and entertainment attracts a multitude of people from many area towns.

With residential areas in a variety of prices and styles, home buyers can find a range of homes from high-end new construction to affordably priced older homes in established neighborhoods. Home buyers are sure to find Foxon’s family-friendly neighborhoods have a lot to offer.
